Hi there, so good to have you here.

I’m Mira Musank, an upcycling artist who loves to extend the lifespan of used textiles.

I repeatedly mended my sweater, year after year!

About Fafafoom Studio Newsletter

Fafafoom Studio Newsletter is my biweekly publication for anyone who is interested in slow fashion practices, textile art expressions, and climate art activism. Through long-form narratives, you will follow my life journey to become a thoughtful maker.

All readers will have access to personally written monthly updates, sent out on the Saturday of the first full week of the month.

They contain insights and personal observations, as well as contemplations related to my practices in pursuit of a more sustainable fashion lifestyle. From sewing my own clothes, creating wearable arts, to collaborating with other artists and makers to weave stories together, this monthly update has them all.

Readers that chose to become paid subscribers will ALSO have access to one more monthly issue, sent out on Saturday of the third full week of the month.

Expect content from the Fashion and Sustainability realm, from tips and how-to documentations of my makes, documentations of personal projects in new technologies (AI, 3D pattern making), as well as interviews with industry professionals.

If you’d like to see specific topics from the newsletter, please let me know!

Help me write better for you!

Moreover, paid subscribers also have early access / exclusive offers to my micro-batch of products for sale, planned for later this year. I’m looking forward to responsibly creating on-demand custom garments that use either regionally sourced textiles or pre-loved materials.

I’m very grateful to have you here. While I offer both free and paid subscription options, my commitment remains the same - to provide you with high-quality content that inspires and engages.

Upcoming events, textile art projects, collaborations, and special release are first announced to newsletter subscribers. Don’t miss out on curated content every month!

A little bit about me

I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area (land of Indigenous tribes Ohlone, Muwekma, and Lisjan), California, USA.

I first came to San Francisco in 2007 and started falling in love with the unique fashion scene. Endless curiosity in garment construction leads me to start learning how to sew in 2011.

In 2018, I rebranded my DIY fashion blog to Fafafoom Studio, a design hub to reimagine, repair, and refashion used clothes and textile waste.

I’m passionate about overconsumption and waste, especially textiles. I love fashion and the stories beautifully crafted garments can tell. By being in the intersection of slow fashion, textile art, and climate activism, I hope to inspire people to rethink their relationship with textiles and embrace a 'waste not, wear more' mindset.

If you’d like to know more about me, check out Fafafoom Studio’s About Us.

While I love designing and sewing, writing has always been dear to my heart. With Fafafoom Studio Newsletter, I am able to share insights and learnings that go beyond garment making documentations. There’s so many nuances - both internal and external - that contribute to why I choose to make them. I’m sharing that perspective with this newsletter, and I hope you can gain much value from it as well!

Thank you for reading; until next time,
Mira Musank

I’m looking forward to sharing my journey as a textile upcycling artist with you!
